Frequently Asked Questions
Booking & Scheduling
How do I book a session? 1. If you know exactly what you want to schedule, schedule your appointment through the “Book Your Session” tab and follow the directions. 2. You may contact me on the contact page and we can discuss your session, once we've chatted about what you're looking for, I'll send you a booking link. A 50% deposit is required to secure your date – this covers my time and prevents no-shows (trust me, it happens more than you'd think!). The remaining balance is due on your session day.
How far in advance should I book? I recommend booking 2-4 weeks ahead, especially during busy seasons like spring/fall or around holidays. Last-minute bookings can work if my schedule allows, but popular weekend slots fill up fast.
What if I need to reschedule? Life happens! Just give me at least 48 hours notice and we'll find another date that works. Less than 48 hours gets trickier since I may have turned down other bookings for your slot.
Do you travel for sessions? Absolutely! I love exploring new locations. Sessions within 30 miles of [your city] are included. Beyond that, there's a small travel fee to cover gas and time – usually around $1/mile roundtrip.
Session Prep
What should I wear? The age-old question! Think layers, avoid busy patterns, and choose colors that make you feel confident. I've got a detailed style guide I'll send after booking with specific tips for your session type. When in doubt: solid colors are your friend.
How long does a typical session last? Most sessions run 1-2 hours depending on the package you choose. Family sessions with little ones? Sometimes shorter if they hit their limit. Couples who are having a blast? We might run a bit longer to catch that golden hour magic.
Can I bring props, pets, or extra people? Props: Love them! Bring anything meaningful – vintage quilts, sports gear, whatever tells your story. Pets: Yes, but they count as extra family members (more chaos = more time needed). Extra people: Each additional person beyond your original headcount is [X fee] to account for the extra time and coordination needed.
Day-of Logistics
What happens if the weather is bad for our outdoor session? Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate! If rain, snow, or dangerous conditions hit, we'll reschedule for a better day. I'm usually watching the forecast like a hawk and will reach out 24-48 hours ahead if things look sketchy.
What if I'm running late? Text me! I'd rather know you're stuck in traffic than wonder if you forgot. Running 10-15 minutes late? No biggie. Much longer and we might need to shorten the session or reschedule depending on my next appointment.
Where do we meet for outdoor shoots? I'll send you the exact address and parking details a few days before your session, plus my cell number. Pro tip: plug it into your GPS the night before – some of my favorite hidden spots don't show up well on maps!
After Your Session
When will I see my photos? Your full gallery will be ready within 2-3 weeks. I know waiting is torture, but good editing takes time! I'll send you 3-5 sneak peeks within 48 hours to tide you over.
How will I get my photos? All photos are delivered through a private Pixieset gallery with full-resolution images ready for download. You'll get an email with your gallery link and password when they're ready.
How long do I have to download my photos? You have 90 days to download everything to your own storage (computer, external drive, cloud storage – your choice!). After that, galleries are removed to make space for new clients. Don't panic though – I'll send reminder emails at 60 and 80 days.
Do you offer prints or albums? I don't create print packages, but you can order prints directly through your Pixieset gallery. They're delivered straight to your door, and honestly, their lab quality is fantastic – I trust them completely with my work. Full transparency: I do receive a small percentage of print sales.
Business Stuff
Can I share my photos on social media? Please do! Tag me @[your handle] so I can see and share your posts. The only request: please don't crop out my watermark or edit the photos. These images represent my work, so let's keep them looking their best!
What's your cancellation policy? Deposits are non-refundable (they hold your date and cover prep time), but they can be transferred to a new date within 6 months if you need to cancel. Weather-related rescheduling doesn't count as cancellation – that's totally on me to work with you.
Do you offer payment plans? For sessions over $[X amount], we can definitely work out a payment plan. Just ask when booking and we'll figure something out that works for both of us.
Still have questions? Shoot me an email at [your email] or text [your number]. I promise I don't bite, and I love chatting about photography almost as much as actually taking the photos!
